The Journalism and Mass Communication Department of Kardan University organized a training workshop on 'The Role of Media in the Society' for the 'SOZO International Charity Foundation' students to institutionalize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on Wednesday, October 14, 2020.
Some 120 students from the foundation participated in the workshop conducted by Noorullah Babakarkhil, Lecturer of Journalism and Mass Communications of Kardan University. Mr. Babakarkhil gave his opening remarks by introducing the media, journalism, and journalists.
He also discussed the media's role in raising awareness, spreading the news, entertainment, divulging, and reforming society. Some of the participants welcomed the workshop and described it as a motivating factor for the youth.
Wida, a SOZO student, said, "our society is in great need of such programs, and getting information, especially regarding the capacity building of our youth, is significantly crucial."
Mohammad Hatif, another student, added, "we didn't know about journalism and its importance in society, and this workshop taught us many great things".
"The role of today's program is similar to that of food to every member of society. It was an informative program, and our students learned a lot from this workshop," said Mohammad Khan Nijrabi, the Institution Director. The authorities of SOZO and Kardan University emphasized on further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two organizations.
