National Conference on Artificial Intelligence
On August 28, 2024, Kardan University hosted a National Conference on "Embracing the Future: Navigating AI's Innovation, Uncertainty, Threats, and Challenges." The Conference was graced with the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Lutfullah Khairkhwa, Deputy Minister for Academic Affairs at the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE); Dr. Hameedullah Muzammil, Director of Research, Authorship, and Translation at MoHE; Mufti Rizwanullah Muneeb, Director of Planning and Policy at MoHE; Eng. Sardar Wali Salehi, Chancellor of Polytechnic University; and Prof. Dr. Jamshed Khan Rashidi, Vice Chancellor (Academics) of Kabul Education University. Moreover, the Conference was enriched by the active participation of academicians, researchers, and students from various public and private universities and industry experts across Afghanistan.
The Conference began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by opening remarks from Mr. Khawaja Jamshid Seddiqi, Vice Chancellor of Kardan University, who highlighted the event's significance in the context of Afghanistan's educational and technological progress. Dr. Ahmad Khalid Hatam, Chancellor of Kardan University, then delivered the keynote address, providing a comprehensive overview of the Conference's theme and the critical importance of addressing the multifaceted issues associated with artificial intelligence.
At the Conference, 19 out of the 23 research papers were presented, covering a wide array of topics related to artificial intelligence. The papers explored various dimensions of AI, including its implications for education, robotics, ethics, economics, societal impact, politics, and health. Each presentation provided valuable insights into the opportunities, threats, and challenges that come with the rapid evolution of AI technology. The discussions underscored AI's transformative potential, inspiring the audience to thoughtfully reflect its ethical, social, and economic implications.
