As a part of our commitment to the SDGs and promoting the culture of Sustainability in Kardan Community and beyond, Kardan University launched the SDGs Youth Ambassadors Club on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, in its MBA Campus. The club member signed a commitment pact to actively engage in activities and programs to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on national and international levels.
Thirty volunteer students from across the University’s departments participated and pledged to be active members of the club and become SDGs ambassadors for other students at Kardan University, their families, and communities.
SDGs Youth Ambassadors Club provides excellent opportunities for Kardan University students to gain practical leadership skills through designing, planning, and implementing sustainability projects and activities towards achieving the UN SDGs.
The club is designed to advance Kardan University’s sustainability agenda, focusing on Reducing Poverty (SDG1), Promoting Quality Education (SDG 4), Improving Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), and building partnerships for the Golas (SDG 17) at the university level and more.
As part of the session, the club members were given a challenge related to the 4 SDGs, where each group discussed and shared their ideas and proposed solutions with the club members. Following the group discussion, each group presented their solutions to the participants.
Club members will be registered to work collaboratively with UNV, a strategic partner of Kardan University, to integrating the SDGs in Afghanistan and beyond. They will also have a chance to join forces with Yalda Hakimi Foundation to achieve the SDGs, especially SDG4, Quality Education.
“We are thrilled to launch the Youth Ambassadors for the SDGs Club to promote awareness and action about the United Nations (SDGs). Our students are change-makers and trailblazers who are uniquely positioned to impact the institutional, national, and global levels. We count on our students to help us embrace a sustainable future,” said Mirwais Nahzat, Chief Operating Officer.
Sustainability is a strategic priority at Kardan University, reflected in everything we do – from training our students on the fundamentals of sustainability to conducting cutting-edge research and ensuring that our campus operations are delivered in a sustainable and future-friendly manner.
