Kardan University organized the Strategic Planning Taskforce (PTF) 2021-2025 meeting on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in its Parwan-e-Du Campus.
Chancellor Roeen Rahmani started the strategic PTF meeting with welcoming remarks, reviewed the past meeting minutes, and went through the meeting agenda. Following that, Mr. Mirwais Nahzat, the university COO, presented the new proposed internal and external assessment mechanism for Kardan University’s Strategic Plan 2021-2025.
The proposed mechanism is a decentralized consultation tool suggesting that Kardan University’s staff and faculty will lead the consultations rather than employing external consultants leading to more meaningful engagement, ownership, and dialogue throughout the process. Also, it was suggested that sessions would be conducted with both internal and external stakeholders with a focus on reviewing
Kardan University’s existing Strategic Objectives:
- SO1: Student professional excellence
- SO2: Faculty and research excellence
- SO3: Excellence in innovation and growth
- SO4: Excellence in policies and procedures
- SO5: Excellence in public engagement
The presentation continued introducing the internal and external stakeholders’ breakdown and suggestions regarding consulting leads/departments to present their approaches in the coming meetings. The PTF suggested that the entire Management Team of the Chancellor’s Office should be consulted; Individual Strategic Plan must be developed across departments, including proposing action plans, besides the University’s Strategic Plan.
The suggested consultation framework proposed the following three main areas;
- Proposing Strategic Objectives—must be substantive, overarching, and ambitious for a five years’ timeline
- Proposing Strategic Initiatives—should be ideal to have strategic objectives as complementing factors
- Proposing High-Level Strategic Actions—listing key activities, actions, and ideas that are of strategic significance and can be essential for the University’s strategic planning efforts
The proposed framework is kept flexible for the consulting teams in which they can include additional strategic-level notes and suggestions. The participants agreed on the proposed timeline and that the consultation phase would complete by November 25, 2020.
