Kardan University and Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June 24, 2021, to enhance the international engagement and capabilities of both Universities. The primary purpose of this MoU is to facilitate the initiation of collaborations between Kardan University and Carleton University, to support research, review and measure data for the work performed, develop and exchange best practices, capacity building, and other forms of academic partnerships to tackle the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) particularly SDG 4: Quality Education.
Both Universities can benefit from this MoU to increase the academic and research footprints on regional and global issues facing the UN SDGs. Also, our faculty and students can collaborate on research with international peers that can ultimately prepare them to contribute to their economies. There is always room for universities to adopt global best practices, so both institutions can mutually contribute to programs, contents, and processes. “Signing such MoUs with universities in other parts of the world and putting them into action can contribute an excellent deal for internationalization and enhance the efforts towards achieving UN SDGs," said Dr. Sayed Abdul Moiz, Kardan University's Dean for the Faculty of Economics.
Based on this MoU, Kardan University and Carleton University will review the progress of work under each program and collaborate in research, capacity building, and academic partnerships. "Working with the universities abroad will help us strengthen our international affairs and work on strategic partnerships that clearly show our genuine efforts towards internationalization," said Mohammad Samim Sadeed, Kardan University's International Affairs & Strategic Partnerships Coordinator.
The Office of International Affairs & Strategic Partnerships (OIASP) at Kardan University is headed by a team of dedicated academic leaders, advised by the Vice-Chancellor Academics, and supported by the Strategic Plan Advisory Committee (SPAC). A group of deans representing each of the University's faculties plus other key academic units are behind the functions of this office. The operations of this office are divided into two main constituents of its title, i.e., International Affairs and Strategic Partnerships.
