Ms. Ruqaia Tabasum is a gender expert with more than ten years of experience in field of women’s rights spanning across India and Afghanistan. Currently, she is working with EPD in Afghanistan as a Research Manager. She is also pursuing her PhD from Aligrah Muslim University in India researching evolution of human rights as tool of diplomacy in International politics with a focus on India. Earlier this year, she was a fellow at Beyond Border’s Fellowship program titled, (Women in Conflict) in Edinburg, Scotland.
Tabasum’s work involves a range of important women related issues in Afghanistan including women in peace and security, response to radicalization in Afghanistan, women in government, economic empowerment of women in shelters, and Afghanistan- Pakistan women’s bridge for peace. In India, she has worked for international organizations such as International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) and Jameel Poverty Action Lab (JPAL), and extensively worked on women’s issues such as child marriage, mother literacy and reproductive health.
