Arafat Safi

Arafat Safi is currently serving as the Advisor to the Office of National Security Council (ONSC) Afghanistan. He has worked for more than ten years, predominantly in the operational, programming and strategic side of development, writing and implementing policies, within the National Solidarity Program (NSP), Afghanistan’s largest community development project (worth $ 2.7 billion). Arafat is a Chevening Scholar and has obtained his master's in International Development with major in Poverty, Conflict and Reconstruction from the University of Manchester - United Kingdom. He also has Post Graduate certificates from the United Nations Institute for Research & Training (UNITAR) Hiroshima and the DANIDA Fellowship Center Denmark, in Project Management and Leadership and in Effective Management for Development respectively.

Arafat holds the membership of Crans Montana Forum for New Leaders and he is titled as “New Leader for Tomorrow” for representing Afghanistan in the Belgium based forum. He is a peace advocate and permanent member of International Institute of Peace Studies (IIPS) Thailand and periodically provides written input in regards to Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution. His written work (not published yet) is the “Analysis of the Effectiveness and Sustainability of Community Driven Development (CDD) Approaches in Afghanistan - A Case Study of NSP”. He is part of the community charity organizations such as the Jahesh and Khairul Bashar.
