Matin Karimi
Mr. Matin Karimi holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Kardan University and has completed his master's degree in Business Administration in 2019 at the same institution. Mr. Karimi is a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholar specializing in International and Development Economics. He is an accomplished development practitioner and passionate economics researcher, and his research interests are mainly in development economics areas. "Moving Away from Foreign Aid: A Case Study of Afghanistan," "Property Rights and Social Norms for Managing the Commons," "Challenges of Rural Economy and Women Economic Empowerment in Afghanistan" are some of his publications.
Currently, Mr. Karimi is working as a Program Manager of Viamo in Afghanistan, a global social enterprise improving lives via mobile. At Viamo, he is responsible for designing projects, supervising qualitative and quantitative research, and field activities in Afghanistan. Mr. Matin Karimi has worked with various renowned organizations and research institutions in different capacities in Germany. He has worked as Content Moderator with Majorel GmbH, Research Assistant with ConoraNet Research Group and Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy, and Financial Coordinator with International Federation of Liberal Youths (IFLRY).
As a change-maker, dynamic, and ambitious professional, Mr. Karimi thrives on helping the Afghan community through social entrepreneurship, "working with a social enterprise is not only a mandate for profit-making but also social care gives me professional fulfillment. Besides, helping the Afghan community is always gratifying and personally fulfilling, " said Mr. Karimi.
Reflecting on his professional success, Mr. Matin Karimi reveals, "my family, friends, and colleagues have helped a lot on my journey to success. Studying BSc. Economics at Kardan University equipped me with the fundamentals of economics and has played a critical role in my academic and professional success."
Outside of his Job, Mr. Karimi reveals some of the proudest and rewarding moments of his career, " the memorable and rewarding moments of my career are forging friendship beyond an organization, meeting people from different continents, deep conversations, and delivering tasks with transparency and accountability."
His advice to students is that "students should open themselves to the world outside academia and explore practical case studies. Furthermore, they should also focus on improving their soft skills, which is vital for their future career."
Mr. Matin Karimi enjoys reading non-fictional books and spending his time with his siblings in his spare time.
