In March 2020, when the COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization, many businesses across the world closed considering the pandemic's adverse effects on the economy. Businesses across Afghanistan were also adversely affected by the pandemic and subsequent containment measures, and most of them were permanently closed.
In these challenging times, Noor Alam Hakimyar, the CEO of Harakat, a non-profit organization in Afghanistan, supported many businesses by developing policies and strategies to help reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on businesses in Afghanistan. "As the CEO of Harakat - Afghanistan Investment Climate Facility Organization, I am responsible for the overall leadership of the organization, including delivering the vision and mission of the organization set by the Board of Directors. During the outbreak of COVID-19, we were able to develop policies and strategies to help reduce the impact of COVID-19 on businesses in Afghanistan," says Noor Alam Hakimyar.
A BBA graduate in 2011, Mr. Hakimyar says his studies at Kardan University helped him be prepared for the professional world and played a vital role in his success. "Studying BBA at Kardan University equipped me with the right knowledge and skills and prepared me for the professional environment. At Kardan University, I developed my leadership, management, and organizational culture skills that are indispensable in the business environment."
A dynamic, dedicated, and ambitious professional, Noor Alam Hakimyar thrives on helping the people around him and building high-performance teams that deliver successful results. "I believe in collaboration, teamwork, creativity as a way of giving space to my subordinates to excel and creating an organizational culture that contributes to the overall growth and success of the organization." Mr. Hakimyar says.
Outside of his current role, he reveals some of the proudest and rewarding moments of his career," I established an educational center in 2003 that has expanded over time and has been the choice of many students for learning foreign languages, computer skills and preparation for Kankor examination. I am proud that thousands of its graduates have found their way to the faculties of their choices for nearly the last two decades."
His advice to other students and alumni "Set goals and values for yourselves in life, stick firm to them and make them happen, have a clear plan and vision for your professional and personal life, and devote your time to contribute to your community, no matter how small it is."
In his spare time, Mr. Hakimyar enjoys spending time with his family and friends, reading economics journals, watching TV, and participating in philanthropic activities.
