Obaidullah Abdulhaq

Obaidullah Abdulhaq earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA) from Kardan University in 2014. He completed a master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development and Global Studies from Roskilde University, Denmark, and Lund University, Sweden, in 2020. Currently, Mr. Abdulhaq works as a Research Assistant at Roskilde University, where he collaborates with a team of professors from Copenhagen University and Roskilde University by searching and identifying relevant materials for research projects and developing theoretical and methodical frameworks.



Mr. Abdulhaq’s research interests are primarily in the development areas, including informal institutions, state-building processes, security issues, and governance dynamics within conflict-torn states, such as Afghanistan, Syria, South Sudan, Iraqi-Kurdistan, West Papua, and sub-Saharan Africa. He has edited many books such as Informality and Development; The Construction of European Union Organizational Identity; The Doctrine of Intervention in the Syrian Civil War; Forty Years of Conflict in Afghanistan: Identifying and Assessing Causes of the Conflict and Challenges towards a Political Settlement. His recent online publication is titled “Can Afghans Work Toward a Lasting Peace Deal?”



He is a professional with almost ten years of experience in various governmental and international organizations. He had been continuously involved in finance and administration related activities between 2004 to 2013. He worked as a Coordinator at Red Cross, as an Admin & Finance Manager at the Ministry of Urban Development Affair.



Mr. Obaidullah Abdulhaq is the founder of an Afghan Youth Association—Hela Afghan Youth Association (HAYA) in Denmark. HAYA is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to enabling Afghan youth’s engagement in meaningful dialogue, professional growth, and subsequently enhance them to build a cooperative and robust network within Denmark. He has recently been elected as Advisory Board Member at Danish Refugee Council (DRC), Denmark for 2020 and 2021 to represent refugees in Danish and international platforms.



He has received many honors and awards, including the Employee of the Year Award from the Ministry of Urban Development Affairs, Exchange Program Scholarship from Goldsmith University, England, and 40 Under 40 Awards from Kardan University in 2018.
