Abstract

The review on employee engagement shows the importance of leadership and employees’ ‎psychological empowerment. Literature on leadership taxonomies suggests the influential ‎role of inclusive leadership in employee engagement. According to emerging literature, there is a scarcity of studies with empirical relationships to inclusive leadership and employee engagement in general, and in developing countries in particular. Grounded in social ‎exchange theory, this study aims to study the relationship between inclusive leadership and ‎employee engagement. Moreover, this study also investigates the mediating role of ‎psychological empowerment in the relationship between inclusive leadership and employee ‎engagement. To test the relationship between the mentioned variables, three hypotheses were ‎developed and validated through quantitative methodology by employing structure ‎equation modeling via SmartPLS software. For this purpose, data was collected from ‎employees working in different organizations in Afghanistan. Data collection was made ‎possible through an online data collection method. Links were shared among employees who ‎were identified as students at Kardan University. A total of 223 responses were received ‎and analyzed for the proposed relationships among constructs. The results of this study ‎revealed that inclusive leadership significantly influences employee engagement. Findings ‎also show that psychological empowerment mediates the relationship between inclusive ‎leadership and employee engagement.
