The Department of Political Science and International Relations, Faculty of Social Sciences at Kardan University, conducted a seminar on the political views of Seyyed Hossein Nasr on December 19, 2019, at Parwan-e-Du Campus.
“A renowned Iranian philosopher and intellectual, Mr. Nasr is a professor of Islamic studies at George Washington University. He has published around 50 books and 500 articles and is the only Muslim intellectual to be included in the library of living philosophers,” Said Zahid Jalaly, Academic Administrator of Political Science Department at Kardan University.
The seminar was arranged for both morning and evening students of the senior three semesters of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations.
Mr. Jalaly delivered the lecture, discussing the life, publications, achievements, philosophical and political views of Hossein Nasr. He also discussed Nasr’s views on modernism, westernization, secularism and the formation of the nation-state.
The lecture was centered on his criticism of modernism and favoring traditionalism in contras. According to his views, modernism diminishes human nature, and ethic is mostly human-oriented.
Kardan University organizes such seminars to enrich its students' perspectives of the Muslim Scholar, so that makes a comparison of Muslim intellectuals with the western ones and build an understanding of the Islamic state.
