The Department of Political Science and International Relations and Faculty of Social Sciences at Kardan University conducted a seminar on the political views of Dr. Ismail Raji al-Faruqi, a Palestinian-American philosopher.
“He was a renowned Palestinian-American thinker and philosopher who remained a university professor of philosophy and comparative religions for many years and published influential works across the world,” said Zahid Jalaly, Academic Administrator of Political Science Department at Kardan University.
The seminar was arranged for both morning and evening students of the senior three semesters of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations on October 10, 2019, at Parwan-e-Du Campus.
Zahid Jalaly delivered the seminar, discussing the life, philosophical and political views of Dr. Al-Faruqi. The discussion started with Dr. Al-Faruqi’s older views of Arabism and continued to Tawhid and how his other views rooted in it.
The focus was concentrated on his idea of ‘Ummatism’ in which he refutes the notion of nation-state and presents an Islamic alternative of world order, and it was of particular interest to students.
Kardan University organizes such seminars to enrich its students' perspectives of the world in a wider context so that they are familiar with a variety of topics by the time they complete their respective degree programs.
