By - Kardan University Posted On : 09 October 2025

Climate change, as the most significant threat to human life, has extensive impacts across various dimensions of human life and nature. In the environmental realm, climate changes can lead to species extinction and a decrease in biodiversity, affecting ecosystems. Simultaneously, this change poses serious challenges in the fields of economy, agriculture, and public health, necessitating urgent and effective actions to mitigate its impacts.

Certainly, Academic Institutions, especially universities, play a vital role in addressing the challenges of climate change. In this context, Kardan University, based on its mission as an inspiration for academic and professional excellence, hosted a scientific-research discourse on climate change assessment.

This program was organized on Thursday (October 9, 2025) at the initiative of the National Environmental Protection Agency and with the support of Kardan University, featuring the esteemed Mawlawi Mutiulhaq Khalis, General Director of the National Environmental Protection Agency; Dr. Ahmad Khalid Hatam, Chancellor of Kardan University, Mr. Khawaja Jamshid Seddiqi, Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Kardan University, representatives and officials from the Ministries of Agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock, and Public Health; representatives from relevant national and international organizations, media, researchers, professors, and students of Kardan University.

Therefore, I thank the leadership of Kardan University for dedicating time and contributing to creating an opportunity for a scientific meeting on environmental protection.”

Following this, Dr. Syed Amir Alavi, Academic Administrator of the Civil Engineering Department at Kardan University, presented the findings of the research conducted on “Impact assessment of climate change on dam reservoir: a case study of Shah Wa Arus Dam in Kabul, Afghanistan”.

After presenting the research findings and responding to participants' questions, the discourse committee comprehensively addressed the inquiries raised in various related fields. Mr. Ali Rahimi, a graduate of the Journalism Department at Kardan University and a participant in this program, stated: “Holding such conferences at universities plays an important role in raising public awareness about environmental protection. This program provides an opportunity for specialists, students, and relevant institutions to share their views and experiences, highlighting the importance of individual and collective responsibility in preserving the environment.”
