Supporting Earthquake Victims: Aid Packages Donated to Kunar and Nangarhar Provinces
On September 30, 2025, following the earthquake in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces, hundreds of our dear compatriots lost their lives, and many others were injured. In response, Kardan University donated aid packages to support and express solidarity with our fellow citizens affected by this disaster.
The day after the incident, a campaign to collect donations was initiated at Kardan University. As a result, aid packages collected by faculty, staff, and students were distributed in the districts of Chawkai and Nurgal in Kunar, which suffered the highest casualties and losses.
These donations included cash, food supplies, kitchenware, hygiene items, various medications, and other essential goods. The Kardan University relief team, in coordination with the Earthquake Relief Commission for Kunar Province, helped 100 families and made cash donations to the provincial hospitals in Kunar and Nangarhar University’s hospital.
Mohibullah Shaghasi, the legal advisor of Kardan University and a member of the relief team, shared his observations from the site of the incident: “I am saddened by the loss of hundreds of our compatriots and the displacement of many; however, it is heartening that we were able to respond quickly to assist our fellow citizens. We are particularly concerned about the plight of children, women, and the adults.”
This donation comes as the campaign to collect cash for the earthquake victims is still ongoing, and a second wave of aid will soon be dispatched to these provinces.
As a leading university in Afghanistan, Kardan University is committed to fulfilling its social responsibility through support and solidarity with its compatriots alongside its academic activities.
