The Department of Political Science & International Relations (BPSIR) of Kardan University hosted a cross sectoral dialogue with Mr. Assad Wahidi, Political Analyst and Associate Professor of Kabul University, on the Doha Agreement and its Impact on Afghanistan. Mohammad Kawsar Dawlatzai, Lecturer for the Department of BPSIR, hosted the live session through Kardan University's Facebook page, a neutral platform to discuss political issues in Afghanistan. The session was open to the general public and its recording is available on Kardan University's official Facebook page for those who missed watching it live.
Hosting such programs shows Kardan University's positive impact on society and helps the university achieve SDG 16: Peace Justice and Strong Institutions and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
In the session, Mr. Wahidi urged the people of Afghanistan to take the Doha Agreement seriously. The Agreement for Bringing Peace to Afghanistan, signed by the Taliban and the United States in Doha on Feb 29, laid the foundations for an end to the war in Afghanistan.
The agreement mandates the prevention of Afghan soil being used by any group that threatens the security of the United States or its allies and the announcement of a timeline for the withdrawal of all foreign troops. Mr. Wahidi stated that the implementation of both these conditions are mandatory in order for intra-Afghan dialogue to begin and a lasting cease-fire and peace to be achieved in Afghanistan.
