Kardan University’s Faculty of Social Sciences conducted an online open to the general public session on the Role of Politics in Poverty Eradication and how to come out of it through Kardan University’s official Facebook page on June 30, 2021. Mr. Matiullah Aryanpor, Assistant Professor for the Department of Political Science & International Relations, hosted the session.
The purpose of this session was to provide comprehensive information about the poverty concept, definitions, types, and the role of politics in eradicating poverty to the general public, especially those who are not studying at Kardan University. The session was viewed and watched by numerous people online through Kardan University’s Facebook page.
Mr. Aryanpor provided a comprehensive definition of poverty from people’s ability to fulfill their basic needs and household income rates. He further stated that poverty is complex and multidimensional and that politics can increase or decrease poverty in societies. In the second part of the session, Mr. Aryanpor also explained the causes of poverty in communities. He stressed social injustice, war, and conflicts, lack of working infrastructure as the main contributors to poverty.
As a socially responsible institution, Kardan University feels accountable for providing educational lectures virtually to the general public, particularly on poverty amid the COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting our commitment to achieving SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 4: Quality Education.
