Mr. Qais Mohammadi and Mr. Waqas Shinwari jointly conducted a week-long training workshop on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and Student-Centered Learning (SCL) Approaches.

The training was conducted for six days in which students from various departments participated. A total of 38 participants, both faculty and non-faculty, joined the training workshop and actively participated in the learning sessions.

OBE and SCL are part of wide-ranging teaching approaches that guarantee the quality of education and establish autonomy and independence in teaching and learning. It is not a fixed theory, system, or strategy. Instead, it is an eclectic and real needs-based method which is interpreted, utilized and implemented in many different ways in consideration to the environmental factors.

The first three days of the workshop focused on OBE, and the latter three on SCL approaches. Trainers tried to practically show the concepts to the participants via an active learning approach, group activities, and teamwork. Lectures utilized multimedia, group discussions, teamwork activities, and participants’ involvement in knowledge sharing and dissemination.

The main focus of the workshop was on the following:
• Explaining OBE and the concept of constructive alignment in enhancing the effectiveness of the higher education
• Active engagement in curriculum development, reform and reshaping the process
• Identifying the appropriate teaching & learning methods to ensure the growth and achievement of the intended learning outcomes
• Applying assessment methods, tools, and strategies to a program or course level
• Acquiring knowledge about modern teaching methodologies
• Practicing the Team-Based Learning principles and key elements

The Faculty of Economics at Kardan University regularly organizes training workshops on a variety of topics to help students gain the required skills and abilities, and enhance better learning approaches.
