The BBA Department of Kardan University conducted a webinar on "Role of Insurance in Economic Development and Sustainability" on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, from 3:00 to 4:30 pm, by Mr. Mahboob Frotan, the guest speaker, and Misbah Uddin Babakarkhail, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics.
Mr. Frotan is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Capital Star Insurance Company and has served as a COO to Sky International Insurance Afghanistan. Mr. Frotan and Mr. Babakarkhail jointly delivered the much-anticipated webinar with an in-depth analysis of the insurance and its importance and benefits for individuals, businesses, and economic sustainability and development. Particularly the economy of Afghanistan.
"The Covid-19 pandemic is adversely affecting the economic sustainability and growth of almost all countries globally and has encouraged the culture of getting insurance policies. The uncertain situations could be compensated somehow by the insurance companies and can bring economic sustainability and development while combating the crisis," said Mr. Frotan.
He further explained the impact of insurance on the Afghan economy's output, employment, inflation, and poverty rate. Moreover, insurance benefits to individuals, families, and businesses were further elaborated through various examples to the students and the protections that the insurance companies provide them.
Besides, a detailed explanation of different insurance products and services available in Afghanistan was also given to the students. Mr. Frotan assured the students that the insurance sector is in the development stage as it is new in the Afghanistan market. They will consider the students' packages to continue their academic careers without any gap pursuing their higher education.
Mr. Frotan also provided comprehensive answers to the queries of the students. He persuaded them to learn and equip themselves with a broader understanding of insurance and protect their businesses and economy during the crisis.
