Elaha Nayab Basharnawaz, holds a master’s degree in International Relations (MIR) from Kardan University and a bachelor’s degree in Law and Political Science from Kabul University. Ms. Nayab is a Professional Defense Lawyer and has handled about 30 criminal cases of women and children thus far. Currently, she works as the National Legal Officer, Development Cooperation of the Italian Embassy (DCIE). Ms. Nayab has served at different capacities with renowned international organizations – as an Advocacy and Communication Advisor at Care International and as an M&E Consultant at Asia Foundation, among others. In 2017, she was the recipient of the DLA Piper Scholarship to England. DLA Piper is the largest law firm with a global presence in more than 40 countries. With the financial support of DLA Piper, she was able to complete her master’s degree in International Relations and had a chance to participate in a leadership program at Oxford University. She is also the winner of the Kardan University 40 Under 40 Award (2018) and the Kardan Academic Excellence Award.
