Waheed Ahmad Jalalzada

With over 10 years of experience in journalism, Mr. Waheed Ahmad Jalalzada has dedicated his career to empowering Afghan youth and journalists to be able to solve their problems and play key roles in decision-making processes.

He has worked with many reputable organizations, including Faanoos Magazine (Founder and Chief Editor), The Media Coordination Group Afghanistan (member, Steering Committee and Coordinator), Radio Arman, Mashal and Woraz Magazines, Khorshid Film; The European Commission’s delegation to Afghanistan, Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit (AREU), Building Markets International, MedAir, the Italian Cooperation, the Afghan Organization for Human Rights and Environmental Protection (AOHREP), The Afghanistan National Participation Organization, Social Volunteers Foundation; The Ministry of Public Works, The Afghan Embassy in Washington D.C.; the Afghan Academy, the Society of Afghan Engineers and Staples in the United States.

During his career Waheed has had a lot of achievements for example:

Provision of free access to internet, library; basic, advanced trainings in journalism to over 4,000 young afghans (through Fanoos), awareness campaign for more than 1,200 journalists and media workers drafted Access to Information Law, and the Afghan Journalists Employment Regulation (at Media Coordination Group), training more than 80 nongovernmental and Civil Society Organizations’ management staff on 13 management subjects (at Building Markets International) and managing projects of Civic Education, Women Empowerment, and Election Awareness Raising, with over 500,000 direct and over 5 million indirect beneficiaries.

Mr. Jalalzada has translated several books from English and Urdu to Dari in the areas of journalism, social justice, politics and child healthcare.
