Kardan University’s Library is organizing an essay writing competition on the Impact of COVID-19 on Afghanistan’s Education Sector among the University’s students. Interested participants must write an essay on the topic mentioned above in one of the local languages (Dari/Pashto) or English. After receiving the essays, an expert panel will mark the essays based on their content, clarity, structure, and overall impression. The markings will be as below:

• Content – Originality: 65%
• Clarity: 15%
• Structure: 10%
• Overall impression: 10%

Submission Rules

• Word limit - 1000 to 1500 words;
• The document must be submitted in MS word format;
• Font – Times New Roman;
• Font size -14 (Heading), 12 (Text size), spacing 1.5;
• Essays must be original and unpublished;
• Plagiarism limit - 20%, the essay will be disqualified if
exceed the requisite limit;
• The participant will be required to submit a copy of their
student identity card along with the essay.

Prizes

• All the participants whose essays are considered will
receive a certificate of participation;
• The winner of the competition will receive an 8,000
AFN scholarship at once on his/her tuition fee;
• The First Runner Up of the competition will receive a
6,000 AFN scholarship at once on his/her tuition fee;
• Second Runner Up will receive a 4,000 AFN
scholarship at once on his/her tuition fee;
• The profiles of the top three winners of the competition
will be promoted through Kardan University’s social
media;
• The first position holder essay will be published in the
Ganjeena-e-Kardan magazine.

• Registration deadline: Wednesday, June 30, 2021
• Competition start date: Saturday, July 3, 2021
• Essay Submission Deadline: Monday, July 12, 2021
