Football Club

Introduction

Football is the most popular sport in Afghanistan, followed by cricket. Afghanistan’s Football Federation was formed in 1922 and is affiliated with FIFA since 1948.

The Afghanistan national football team occasionally played in Asian Cup qualifiers and in early 2003 celebrated its first victory, a 2-1 win against Nepal. The team made it to the runners-up position in the 2011 SAFF Championship but failed to win the trophy. However, in the 2013 SAFF Championship, the Afghan team won its first international football trophy after playing against India.

Kardan Football Club

Kardan football club was established in 2017 by participation of young and energetic students from different programs. This club is a newly organized sports club where more than 400 students participated in trial sessions and 30 qualified for the team to represent Kardan University.

Practice Sessions

Members of this club play practice games at least two times in a month in different football stadiums/gymnasiums. Expenditures and other arrangements are done by Kardan University.

Friendly Matches

Kardan football club has played friendly matches with well-known teams. Such matches are organized at least once in a month.
